Your Questions, Answered

What you need to know.

01

What is Meridian Theory in TCM?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, meridians are a network of pathways through which Qi (vital energy) and Blood circulate throughout the body. The 14 major meridians connect specific organs and body surfaces. Acupuncture works by stimulating points along these pathways to restore the smooth, balanced flow of Qi — the foundation of health in TCM.

02

How Does TCM Treat Health Concerns?

Rather than suppressing symptoms, TCM identifies and addresses the underlying pattern of imbalance. Ken takes a full health history, examines your pulse and tongue, and identifies which organ systems and meridians are out of balance. Treatment — through acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, Tuina, Gua Sha, or herbal medicine — then targets the root cause so that symptoms resolve naturally.

03

What Will My First Visit Be Like?

Your initial consultation runs for 1 hour. Ken will take a detailed health history covering your main concern, sleep, digestion, emotional health, and constitution. He'll perform a pulse assessment (both wrists) and examine your tongue. From there, he'll discuss his assessment, outline a proposed treatment plan, and typically perform acupuncture in the same session. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and avoid a very large meal beforehand.

04

Where Will I Be Treated During a Home Visit?

Ken brings all necessary equipment to your home. You'll be treated in whatever private space is most comfortable for you — a bedroom is ideal. You don't need a special table; Ken has everything required for a full treatment session. Home visits are available within 10 km of Box Hill VIC 3128, covering Melbourne's eastern suburbs including Surrey Hills, Doncaster, Ringwood, and surrounding areas.

05

Can I Make a Private Health Insurance Claim?

Many private health funds provide rebates for acupuncture and TCM treatments by a registered AHPRA practitioner. Ken is registered with AHPRA and the CMBA (Registration: CMR0002621308). Whether your specific policy covers these treatments — and the rebate amount — depends on your fund and level of cover. Please contact your fund directly to confirm your entitlements before booking.
